Minister Reverol: Venezuela is free of illicit crops

On Monday the Minister of People’s Power for Interior, Justice and Peace, M / G Nestor Reverol, offered a balance on matters of drug seizure, at which time he reported that have been doubled the seizures after expelling the US Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). “We designed national policies to address the illicit trafficking (…) there are no other possibilities that drugs come from another country than Colombia, all drugs transiting in this country come from the Republic of Colombia”.
From the National Anti-Drug Office (ONA), Reverol said that “in the years 2008 to 2010 when drug seizures were accentuated, were made 22 military operations, were eradicated and disqualified 359 plane tracks, were destroyed 108 laboratories, were disabled 111 aircrafts (… ) but it must also be noted that according to United Nations reports, Venezuela is a country free of illicit crops (…) thanks to the efforts of our Armed Forces”.
In this regard, said that “Now with the Miranda satellite we have the ability to detect illicit crops from photographs (…) We in 2002 only had two radars for the surveillance of Venezuelan airspace, but with the sovereign decision of Commander Chavez, we have 10 radars manufactured in China with a range of 440 kilometers around”.
He also reported that have been signed 53 agreements on drugs with 39 countries worldwide. “Today we have the Command against Illicit Flights thanks to the National Government, and it is that Venezuela is not a producer or consumer of drugs, we are a transit country and we have a common but differentiated responsibility”.
He said that the US accusations against the Venezuelan military are political weapons in order to destabilize the country.
