Venezuela and China agree to expand scientific-technological cooperation

This Tuesday, the Minister of People’s Power for Science and Technology of Venezuela, Gabriela Jiménez-Ramírez, held a virtual meeting with her Chinese counterpart, Wang Zhigang.

At the meeting, the spokesmen for China and Venezuela agreed to expand bilateral exchanges and scientific-technological cooperation for the well-being of the peoples.

During her speech, the Venezuelan minister thanked her Asian counterpart for her willingness to hold this first meeting of 2022 “at a time when political challenges of various kinds threaten to stop the progress of our peoples and to which it is necessary to respond with the deepening of brotherly ties between China and Venezuela”.

The minister valued China’s efforts to establish cooperation ties with the countries of the region through the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC): “We believe that science, technology and innovation are transversal to various issues raised between Latin America and China, and therefore can be communicating bridges to advance and improve in multiple spaces”, she declared.

She added that since the beginning of the Ministry of People’s Power for Science and Technology of Venezuela, in 1999, the People’s Republic of China has been an irreplaceable ally for the promotion of scientific and technological programs carried out in the South American country.

China appreciates bilateral relations:

For his part, the Minister for Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Zhigang, declared that this first meeting served to guide and evaluate the planning of scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation between the two allied nations for this 2022:

China and Venezuela are good friends, with mutual trust, and at the same time, they are good partners. In recent years, the two sides have presented a deepening of the comprehensive strategic partnership that President Nicolás Maduro and President Xi Jinping have established”, he said.

In this sense, Zhigang recalled that the cooperation of the two countries in the field of science and technology has yielded fruitful results and important contributions to the joint fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, so the goal is to continue strengthening scientific and technological innovation projects for the well-being of the peoples of China and Venezuela.

The Chinese spokesman stressed that the planet is going through a new period of turbulence and change, so it is essential to strengthen ties with allied countries to build an encouraging future for everyone.
