COVID: Venezuela registers 1,288 new infections

The Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, informed this Monday that in the last 24 hours a total of 1,288 new Covid-19 infections were registered in the country, 1,278 of them from community transmission and 10 from people coming from abroad.

From the “Simón Bolívar” Press Room at Miraflores Palace, Rodríguez pointed out that Miranda state is the entity with the highest number of cases registered in this period with 273 cases, with the highest incidence in the municipalities of Sucre and Independencia, followed by Caracas with 196 cases, and La Guaira with 186.

The report reflects that the five entities with the highest number of cases in the last 24 hours are Miranda state with 273; Caracas with 196; La Guaira with 186; Yaracuy with 128 and Carabobo with 88 positive infections by Covid 19.

Regarding imported cases, Rodriguez detailed that 10 new cases have been registered, 9 of them arriving from Panama – 7 of which entered through Carabobo state and 2 through La Guaira – and 1 from the Dominican Republic, which entered through La Guaira.

The Vice-President regretted the death of 12 Venezuelan nationals, while highlighting that up to date Venezuela registers a rate of 93% of patients recovered from the pandemic.

Up to date there are a total of 10,170 active cases in the country, noting that currently more symptomatic cases are reported, between mild or moderate, a higher number than last year when almost all cases were asymptomatic,” she said.

In this context, she reiterated once again the high virulence of the Brazilian P1 and P2 variants: “The virus is hyperactive, it spreads faster and has a higher lethality rate”, in view of which she reiterated the call to the public to go immediately to the doctor in case of any symptom.

“We ask you to go immediately to the health center, to the hospital, to the clinic, to the field hospitals, do not stay at home, do not be late to the health center, if you go on time you can be treated, we acknowledge the daily work of the doctors in Venezuela, we always see in the cameras the loving way they treat the patients. That is the Venezuelan model of care, of giving attention to others”, she pointed out.
