Read the statement from the Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs:

“The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, on behalf of the Government and the Venezuelan People, extends a fraternal congratulation and recognition to the Government and the Russian People on the occasion of commemorating today, May 9, 2018, the 73rd anniversary of the victory of the Army of the USSR in the Great Patriotic War, thus defeating, in a courageous and forceful way, the fascist forces that stalked the world in the middle of the 20th century.

The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela vindicates the validity and transcendence of that immense military feat, forged from the courage and blood shed by the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, which laid the foundations for the consolidation of a freer and fairer world. Given the challenges and threats that the neo-imperialist fascism presents today, we must remember and take the lessons of that great victory of humanity, following the unforgettable example of bravery and sacrifice of the brave soldiers of the Red Army.”
