President Maduro: Independence is a permanent struggle for the dignity of the people

With the participation of 15,124 members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) and a large participation of the organized people, this Monday the civic-military parade was held to celebrate 210 years of the signing of the Act of Independence.

At the head of the imposing civic-military parade, the Head of State, Nicolás Maduro Moros, assured that “independence is a dynamic act and in permanent movement for dignity and for human existence in these lands.”

Independence is not a static state, not one that is achieved and that’s it. It was not like that 200 years ago, it was not like that 100 years ago, it was not like that 10 years ago when we commemorated the anniversary together with our beloved commander Hugo Chávez, it is not like this today, nor will it ever be as long as there are empires in the world that want to be hegemonic and seize the self-determination of the peoples”, he emphasized.

In this sense, President Maduro, accompanied by the representatives of the Public Powers and the high officials of the FANB, urged the Venezuelan people to build Independence every day.

Today we can say to our Liberating Fathers, 210 years later we can celebrate that magnanimous act of declaring Independence, in a land that is free, rebellious and sovereign, we can celebrate it standing up, with a calm mind and soul, in peace and full exercise of our beloved sovereignty”, he stressed.

Acknowledgement to the FANB:

In his address to those attending the civic-military parade held on the Paseo de Los Próceres (Heroes Stroll) in Caracas, he extended a special greeting to all the members of the FANB for being today “the day of the soldier men and women of Venezuela, pride of all the Venezuelans, my word of encouragement, support and congratulations”.

Regarding the role that corresponds to each Venezuelan in these times of resistance, he affirmed that having defended the independence of the State: “today puts us in the possibility of reconquering all the economic rights that the criminal blockade imposed by imperialism has deprived from us”.

Celebrating Independence means a commitment to recover the socialist welfare state, overcome criminal sanctions and find the paths of sustainable development and generate wealth that is invested in the right to health, education, housing, that is the commitment of those of us who love Venezuela, of which we feel the country as a living history”, concluded the national president from the presidential grandstand on the Paseo de Los Próceres, when authorizing the start of the commemorative civic-military parade of July 5, 1811.
