Venezuela participates in meeting of the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter in Iran

Venezuela participated this Saturday in a meeting of National Coordinators of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations (UN) that took place in Tehran, Iran.

The deputy minister for North America, Carlos Ron, and the ambassador to Iran, Jesús Silva Aponte, were present on behalf of the Bolivarian nation, as reported the alternate ambassador of Venezuela to the UN, Joaquín Pérez:

“Today, in Tehran, we participate together with the Deputy Minister and Ambassador Jesús Silva Aponte in the Meeting of National Coordinators of the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter,” he specified.

He explained that at the meeting, Venezuela “renewed the firm commitment to advance in the promotion of common interests-positions” in defense of the founding charter of the UN, as refers a note from the AVN website.

Likewise, were held bilateral meetings with different authorities of the Iranian government, such as the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, “in order to follow up on important issues of common interest”.

Among the countries that are part of the group in Defense of the UN Charter, in addition to Venezuela, Russia, Iran, Nicaragua, China, Cuna, Bolivia, Syria and others stand out.
