The Legislative Power of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, strongly repudiates the recent aggression perpetrated by Colombian criminal armed groups, linked to drug trafficking mafias, in Venezuelan territory.
Through a statement, issued on Thursday, March 25, 2021, the National Parliament reiterated that the Colombian State has not known or has not wanted to peacefully resolve its internal armed conflict, dating back 70 years, which threatens the people, sovereignty and peace of Venezuela, and that currently the government of Iván Duque, consents and exports irresponsibly.
The document, signed by the board of directors of the Legislative Power, chaired by deputy Jorge Rodríguez Gómez, categorically affirms that the Venezuelan democratic institutions will not allow the presence of Colombian criminal groups on the sacred soil of the Bolivarian Homeland.
It is important to remember that the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, during the governments of Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro, participated as a mediator in the peace agreements to collaborate with the stability of Colombia and the region, however, the government of Iván Duque, abandoned the path of peace and ceded its border to gangsters who turned the area into a criminal corridor to attack Venezuela.
The National Assembly also expressed its full support to the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and Commander-in-Chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, Nicolás Maduro, the Minister of People’s Power for Defense, General-in-Chief, Vladimir Padrino López, Operational Strategic Commander Admiral Remigio Ceballos and the members of all the components of the FANB, who effectively protect the Venezuelan border.
In addition, the Legislative Power rejects the insolent statements of the Colombian Chancellory and the Southern Command, which try to accuse Venezuela and evade their responsibility in their interest of creating false positives, and the use of irregular groups to attack the Homeland.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will execute the necessary international actions to denounce and exercise in favor of sovereignty, and ratifies that it will persist in safeguarding the territorial integrity and the life of the people.
