MP issues arrest warrant against two citizens illegally designated as directors of Citgo

The Attorney General of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Tarek William Saab, announced that an arrest warrant was issued against two Venezuelan citizens illegally designated as directors of Citgo for alleged conspiracy and capital legitimization

From the headquarters of the Public Ministry (MP) in Caracas, Saab indicated that the measures against Andrés Felipe Yrigoyen Luna, illegally appointed as the new President of the Board of Directors of Citgo, and Ramón Pocaterra Esparza, illegally appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of Citgo Petroleum Corporation, were requested.

In addition, the order implies the search and seizure of real and personal property, the blocking and immobilization of accounts against these subjects. “Both are charged with the crimes of conspiracy, usurpation of public functions, money laundering, association and obstruction of justice”.

He recalled that Juan Guaidó proclaimed himself as the president in charge and appointed an illegal board that prevents the Bolivarian nation from exercising the defense against the Crystallex company’s lawsuit in a federal court in the United States.

“The authentic representatives of the Venezuelan State were prevented from acting and the defense of Venezuela was handed over to the false prosecutor appointed by Guaidó, José Ignacio Hernández, a fugitive from Venezuelan justice”.

In view of the foregoing, he emphasized that Hernández had been an advisor to Crystallex itself and was the one who gave the arguments to this company to demand the Citgo shares to be sold and for them to have an indemnity paid which they obtained through the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes (Ciadi).

Saab emphasized that Hernandez was the same lawyer who gave the arguments to the plaintiffs against Venezuela, and that this lawyer collected a large sum of money; he was appointed to defend the interests of the defendants of that company, an action that gives the most vile example of corruption known in the history of the country.

“We share the thesis that the self-proclamation of Guaidó and its appropriation of the assets of the Republic abroad, with the support of the government of the United States,” emphasized the representative of the MP.

He emphasized that this case is a gigantic plot of corruption and plundering of the Republic, at the service of private interests, at the same time, the Prosecutor hopes that with the help of Interpol, the laws will be applied to these people.

“Venezuela needs this money to buy medicines and food, not to favor four or five families that live like sheiks abroad”, he stated.
