Venezuela calls on the UN to honor the truth

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects the pronouncement of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, regarding persons deprived of liberty.

The Venezuelan Government guarantees the enjoyment of their Human Rights, including the right to adequate medical care, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and international treaties ratified by the Republic, as has been verified by the United Nations in the 33 visits that has carried out to the country’s detention centers.

In Venezuela there are no arbitrarily detained persons. All persons deprived of liberty are facing criminal processes and fair trials, based on due process and the legitimate right to defense.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela regrets that the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights gives in to pressure from sectors that seek to use the issue of Human Rights for political purposes, while making invisible the structural reforms adopted by the Venezuelan state.
