Venezuela maintains communication channels with the EU to recover diplomatic relations

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela maintains open communication channels with the European Union (EU), in order to recover diplomatic relations with the nations of this group, despite the coercive measures imposed against the country, as detailed on Tuesday the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza:

“We have opened communication channels with Europe to open new spaces to recover diplomatic practice, despite the decisions made by the European Union in 2019”, said the Venezuelan Chancellor in statements broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión.

From the Yellow House – headquarters of the Venezuelan Chancellory – the Venezuelan diplomat indicated that as a Chancellor he has held “personally” conversations with different foreign ministers of European countries to open spaces for communication.

In this sense, he recalled that the EU approved the resolution of 19 countries that gave rise to an “absolutely politicized fact-checking mission, used as a political weapon against Venezuela, which in turn generated a fraudulent, mercenary report”.

Last week, a report by an “independent mission” of the United Nations (UN) – dependent on the Lima Group – declared that the security forces of the Venezuelan state were committing “crimes against humanity”.

The text was published two days after the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, highlighted the work of the Venezuelan institutions with the officials of the High Commissioner, to evaluate the human rights situation in the country.
