Annual Legislative Plan 2022 approved by qualified majority

The National Assembly (AN) approved this Thursday, by a qualified majority, the 2022 annual legislative plan for the discussion of various bills.

The president of the parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, indicated that this plan represents “a guide, it is the backbone of parliamentary activity in 2022 and reflects the expectations of each of the permanent and special commissions”.

Rodríguez pointed out that said program “does not undermine the possibility of some legislative initiative” for the presentation of bills for subsequent discussion.

This year’s legislative plan contemplates the second discussion of the reform project of the Organic Law of the Supreme Court of Justice; two related laws for the deepening of participatory and protagonist democracy, as well as the Organic Law for Communal Cities.

Likewise, it incorporates the discussion, among other projects, of the Law of Special Economic Zones, the reform of the Decree with Rank, Value and Force of Law on taxes on large economic transactions, the project of the Law of Public Purchases and several projects of law related to human rights.

For his part Pedro Carreño, a deputy of the ruling party, emphasized that the 2022 legislative agenda will be focused on the approval of laws to combat the economic and financial blockade, which affects the economy and the social welfare of the population.
