COVID: Venezuela registered on Friday 823 community and 44 imported cases

A total of 823 cases of community transmission of COVID-19 and 44 imported were detected on Friday by the Venezuelan health authorities, raising the total number of infections up tp that day to 71,273, of which 60,709 have been successfully recovered, which is equivalent to 85 percent of cases.

The information was released this Friday by the Minister of People’s Power for Communication and Information, Freddy Ñáñez, during a contact via videoconference with Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), at the end of the daily meeting of the Presidential Commission for Control and the Prevention of COVID-19.

Regarding the cases of community transmission, he explained that they focused on:

Capital District: 182 new cases, concentrating the highest number of cases in: Sucre (Catia) with 34, El Valle with 21, Catedral with 19 cases and 23 de Enero with 11.

By State:

Zulia: 153 new cases.

Táchira: 118 new cases.

Miranda: 62 new cases.

Bolívar: 61 new cases.

La Guaira: 60 new cases.

Yaracuy: 53 new cases.

Cojedes: 45 new cases.

Barinas: 34 new cases.

Merida: 31 new cases.

Delta Amacuro: 29 new cases.

Lara: 14 new cases.

Apure: 8 new cases.

Carabobo: 6 new cases.

Sucre: 3 new cases.

Anzoátegui: 2 new cases.

Nueva Esparta: 2 new cases.

Amazonas: 1 new case.

Aragua: 1 new case.

Portuguesa: 1 new case.

Meanwhile, on the imported cases, he indicated that 43 are coming from Colombia, and 1 from Brazil.

Until this Friday there were 9,973 active cases, of which 5,721 are in hospitals, 3,794 are in Integral Diagnostic Centers (CDI) and 459 in private clinics. 95.4% of patients are cared for in the National Public Health System.

When referring to the current condition of the patients, a total of 6,108 are asymptomatic, 2,667 have mild acute respiratory failure, 996 have moderate acute respiratory failure, and 202 have severe acute respiratory failure for which they are admitted to intensive care units.

On the other hand, he regretted reporting the death of ten people from the COVID-19 infection in the last hours to raise the number of fatalities to 591. The deaths were: a 64-year-old man from Anzoátegui state; a 58-year-old man from Miranda; a 60-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man from Amazonas; a 51-year-old woman and a 63-year-old man from Aragua; two men aged 65 and 67 from Táchira, and two men aged 80 and 73 from Apure state.

Regarding the number of tests applied, he reported that 1,927,870 tests have been carried out throughout the national territory as of this Friday.

He praised that the country welcomed 150 doctors arriving from Cuba this Friday to join the fight against COVID-19. With this figure there are 1,000 Cuban doctors from the Henry Reeve Brigade, who are deployed in the house by house operation.

Likewise, he made a review on the situation of COVID-19 in the world, whose largest number of cases are concentrated in the US, Brazil, Colombia.
