Venezuela allocates 111 billion bolivars for scientific research against Covid-19

So far in 2020, Venezuela has allocated 111 billion bolivars for the development of research and scientific innovations in the fight against Covid-19, as indicated by the Ministry of People’s Power for Science and Technology this Wednesday, through a press release.

In this regard, he explained that 78% of the investment corresponds to projects of diagnostic methods and prevention of the disease.

This is how a group of Venezuelan scientists developed the first four non-invasive digital mechanical ventilators for patients with critical respiratory conditions.

Likewise, the publication of more than 110 documents by scientists based on epidemiological characterization, virological analysis and other areas on the clinical phenomenon, which contribute to the control of the current pandemic, was consolidated; as well as the understanding of social phenomena, placed in the context of the civilizational crisis of modernity.

It should be noted that, to date, more than 16,000 scientists have registered their ideas and projects in the National Plan for Technological Innovation, to contribute after the consequences of the blockade that affects the lack of spare parts, reagents, medicines, among others.

Likewise, the MPPCYT press publication reports that the scientific-peasant alliance is one of the most important projects of the ministry, allowing the rescue and multiplication of sovereign seeds of potatoes, garlic, strawberries, corn, beans, beans and vegetables. in 13 states of the country.

There are 166 peasant producers who certified the corn seed in academic research centers, in accordance with the provisions of the FAO, in March 2020, to increase the support of the people, by scaling up the national production of corn seeds. cereals, vegetables and legumes.

The Ministry for Science and Technology established an alliance with the Islamic Republic of Iran on nanotechnology and aerospace technology, to strengthen scientific research and the realization of joint training spaces, within the framework of the fight against Covid-19.
