Venezuela and Qatar reiterate commitment to increase bilateral cooperation at Doha Forum

Within the framework of his participation in the 20th edition of the Doha Forum, the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Félix Plasencia, held a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, with who was reiterated the mutual commitment to increase bilateral cooperation.

In addition, “We exchanged on issues of global interest and the importance of the Doha Forum for constructive dialogue”, said the Venezuelan Chancellor on his Twitter account, @plasenciafelixr.

Both Chancellors also agreed to “strengthen and deepen at the highest level” the cooperation relations of their governments during a previous meeting on September 23 last year, in the context of the 76th session of the General Assembly of the Organization of United Nations (UN), in New York.

Diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Qatar were officially established in 1973, being promoted by Commander Hugo Chávez from 1999.

The Doha Forum, which concludes this Sunday, March 27 its twentieth edition, is a platform for discussion and dialogue that brings together leaders from around the world to promote actions and solutions to major global problems. This year it has focused on ways to accelerate post-pandemic recovery and achieve a stronger and more sustainable economy, in addition to the climate emergency and the refugee crisis.
