In order to deepen the integral development and productive national and international investment, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, promulgated this Wednesday the Organic Law of the Special Economic Zones (ZEE) of Venezuela, formalizing in this same act the creation of the Superintendency of the area and the first five Special Economic Zones.
This action marks the entry into operation of the productive development territories in Paraguaná (Falcón), Puerto Cabello – Morón (Carabobo), La Guaira (La Guaira), Margarita (Nueva Esparta) and La Tortuga Island (Miranda Island Territory).
In a special television broadcast, the National President explained that each region will operate under the institutional coordination of the Superintendence of Special Economic Zones, a regulatory entity created under an Official Decree signed by the Head of State from the International Center for Productive Investment, located in Miranda State:
“We have to build Special Economic Zones with a national seal, with our own creativity, innovation and inventiveness. They have to be areas with a high component of investment, with a high component of scientific and technological development”, he instructed regional and municipal authorities.
In his speech, the governor of Carabobo state, Rafael Lacava, pointed out that the Puerto Cabello – Morón axis not only has logistics and transportation facilities, but also tourism opportunities to promote development “and compete with the Caribbean market”.
“We are determined to join and participate in this market, we have the tools and the competitive advantages of a prodigious land”, added Lacava.
On the other hand, the governor of Nueva Esparta state, Morel Rodríguez, stressed that the ZEEs will allow -at the local level- to strengthen tourism “to turn Nueva Esparta into an operational center for national and international tourism”, as well as to promote integral development. in strategic areas:
“My thanks, as a son of this land, as a defender of the policies that you are promoting for the country without sectarianism or petty attitudes because we are all Venezuelans and we want the best for Venezuela”, stressed Rodríguez.
