Venezuela denounces attack on statue of the Liberator in Madrid

The statue of the Liberator Simón Bolívar, located in Parque del Oeste in Madrid, was subjected to vandalism. On the pedestal of the equestrian sculpture the word Traitor! and the initials HDGP! were spray painted.

Through the Twitter social network, users condemned this fact against the image of the Father of the Homeland.

The spokesman for the La Causa R party in Spain, Manuel Rodríguez, wrote: “From the Ayuda Venezuela platform and La Causa R in Spain we condemn the vandalism against the monument to the Liberator Simón Bolívar in Madrid”.

Similarly, he blamed militants from the far-right VOX party for committing this attack. He described them as “a group of fascists, militants of the far-right Vox party, who are led by a pseudo-journalist named Jesús Rojo who calls Bolívar a murderer and criminal. They have been for 2 or 3 years asking for the removal of the statues of Bolívar from Spain”, explained Rodríguez.

For his part, the leader of the Un Nuevo Tiempo (UNT) party, Luis Madeiro, also spoke out against this fact and criticized the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida (Partido Popular) for being indifferent to this fact: “They fill their mouths by calling themselves allies of the Venezuelan people, and then allow this vandalism”, he wrote.
