US funds media campaign against Venezuela

The special envoy of the United States (USA) in Venezuela, Elliot Abrams, announced that the Donald Trump administration was going to finance a media campaign against Venezuela, amidst the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, said on Tuesday the President of the Republic Bolivarian from Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro:

“Elliot Abrams reported that he was going to finance the campaign against Venezuela and that campaign has already started, attacking Venezuela, trying to convey a reality that does not exist”, said the Venezuelan head of state during a work journey.

The National President emphasized that this campaign is supported by international news agencies and different websites, in order to promote – on social networks – slander and lies about the situation in Venezuela:

«There is a Venezuela that is fighting, that is standing. We are in that daily battle against the pandemic and against all things coming from the empire. Elliot Abrams, as he has nothing else to do, announces that they are going to finance a brutal television, radio campaign”, he stressed.

In this sense, the Venezuelan president pointed out that the truth of Venezuela “is very powerful” and is going to prevail amidst the media campaigns that have been promoted from the White House.

Abrams recently indicated that this new campaign will be part of the actions taken by the United States to pressure the ousting of the current president, elected by the people in the elections of May 2018.

“Even in this new world, radio is important. Let’s think more about radio. We need to make sure that what we do reaches a wide audience in Venezuela”, said Abrams in a video conference, as reviews the Hudson Institute website.

Since the arrival of the Bolivarian Revolution – in 1999 by the hands of Commander Hugo Chávez – Venezuela has been the target of campaigns and lies promoted by the White House, worsened since the arrival of current President Donald Trump to power.
