Venezuela is the epicenter of the 17th World Poetry Festival

“Poetry is the strength of the soul that is expressed through creation, the conjugation and beauty of words”, the affirmation corresponds to the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro Moros, when celebrating the installation of the 17th World Poetry Festival and First Congress of the World Poetry Movement.

In context, the Minister of People’s Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, inaugurated the event on Monday, stating that the Venezuelan people with its heroic resistance “earned the right for poetry and culture to make its way onto the public agenda, defeating fascism”.

During the days of the festival, the attending poets will discuss the construction of a strategy that will be carried out through six lines of work and will allow the creation of a strategic plan with the purpose of consolidating poetry and culture as creative elements of the peoples.

Likewise, this space includes recitals, poetry readings, discussion tables and literary workshops in the Capital District and through 12 states of the country.

Likewise, more than 2,500 young poets from high schools and educational institutions in the country will participate, through the “Juan Calzadilla” National School of Poetry, which provides tools to get to know the country from a sensitive perspective.

The 17th Poetry Festival is a space that has the participation of more than 70 international and 200 national poets, from July 17 to 23, and its objective is to strengthen the literary world in the country, betting on the meeting between brother nations and expressing love for humanity through poetry.
