419 new Covid 19 cases were reported in the last 24 hours in Venezuela

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, reported 419 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, a figure that exceeds the highest in the country since the virus began.

From Miraflores Palace, the Head of State, in a meeting with the Presidential Commission for the prevention, care and control of Covid-19, announced that 332 cases have been detected by community transmission, of which 193 come from the focus of the Las Pulgas market (Maracaibo, Zulia state), 67 in Caracas, 59 in Miranda state, four in Carabobo, three in Nueva Esparta and two in Lara.

Likewise, he detailed that there were 79 people infected on imported cases, and eight by international contact (health workers who generally attend to fellow citizens), of which 60 come from Colombia, 10 from Brazil, three from Peru, three from Ecuador, and one from Chile.

President Maduro reported two new deaths, to reach a total of 65 deaths. The first case is a 44-year-old woman from Zulia state, who devoted to household chores, and who suffered from leukemia.

The other case is an 84-year-old man from San Francisco, Zulia state, Los Cortijos parish, who was hypertensive. He presented a strong cough, general discomfort. He went to the sentinel hospital emergency, and tested positive. He was given treatment, but died today, regretted President Maduro.

Venezuela until this Sunday has the number of infections to 7,169 and adds 65 deaths (two new today), while 2,100 patients have recovered their health.

“We have had an outbreak that we are following up on, in some states of the country, since May 15, an explosion of imported cases has arrived, detected at border crossings”, said the National President.
