US Administration maintains criminal obsession against the Venezuelan people

Faced with the insistence of the Secretary of State of the United States, Mike Pompeo, to boast of the application of the so-called «sanctions», with the imposition of coercive actions against the Venezuelan nation, the Chancellor of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, denounced on Tuesday this systematic attack as a criminal obsession with which the US attempts against the well-being of the Venezuelan people amidst the Covid-19 pandemic:

«The first thing @SecPompeo does in the morning is to announce another attack on Venezuela. Criminal obsession. He wants Venezuelans to run out of gasoline, for the State not to be able to sell oil to import medicines, treatments, food and supplies to produce: (a crime) against humanity”, criticized Arreaza via Twitter.

The pronouncement by the Venezuelan Chancellor was made after Pompeo’s announcement of “sanctions” against Venezuelan companies, of which he boasted on the social network with the following message: “Today, the United States is sanctioning four companies for their role in facilitating the robbery of Venezuelan oil by the Maduro regime. These sanctions further isolate the regime and are another step in obtaining freedom and prosperity for the people of Venezuela”.

The blockade and confiscation of Venezuelan resources that the US government has perpetrated with the kind of application of supposed “sanctions” has been classified as crimes against humanity.

Arreaza has reiterated this denounce in different national and international forums, through the media and social networks, in which he explained that with these coercive actions of economic and financial pressure, the administration of the northern country prevents the acquisition of food and medicines for the Venezuelan population.

These measures have led to the confiscation of Venezuelan assets abroad such as the Citgo company, a subsidiary of state-owned Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa), which is valued at about $ 34 billion, in addition to the Monómeros company in Colombia, a subsidiary of Pequiven.
