The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, asked the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, to apply «the full weight of the law» against those opposition figures who have promoted economic sanctions against the country:
«We urge the dear prosecutor to apply the full weight of the law against all those who have promoted these actions against Venezuela. Let them pay with jail, disqualifications and the law of domain extinction. Let the full rigor of this Law (Liberator Simón Bolívar) and of the laws that we have approved until today fall on them,» said the deputy during the ordinary session of parliament.
Rodríguez took the opportunity to comment on the decision of the United States (US) to revoke Chevron’s license, which he called a «shot fired by American imperialism» and indicated that from now on the funds that were destined to pay debts with the American company will have to be redirected towards investment in the national oil industry:
«As a good payer that we are, we are prohibited from settling outstanding debts with Chevron. So that money that we were paying for debt will now be invested in the oil industry to produce more oil every day. Thank you for that,» he said.
In this sense, the parliamentarian assured that with this new sanction, they will not be able to stop the country’s progress and that PDVSA will soon be strengthened:
«Beyond the infinite ridiculousness, at this point, believing that they will be able to stop the progress of the Bolivarian Revolution is a mistake. Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) does not need 30 days to take control of these fields and to position itself at the forefront of the plan we have launched,» he said.
He also emphasized that several countries and organizations are interested in having negotiations with Venezuela.
«The phones have not stopped ringing. They call from all over the planet: traders, buyer countries, energy merchants… they are desperate,» he said.
