The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, confirmed on Wednesday 75 new positive Covid-19 cases, which brings the number of infected by the outbreak to 824.

During a health journey, the Head of State explained that three of those cases are of community transmission, five by direct contagion with international travelers, and 67 are imported.

He stressed that the average incidence of the new coronavirus in the country is 2.5 per million inhabitant: “A low level, to think about the plan for de-escalation and flexibility in an organized, conscious and safe way. This plan is being worked with the governors of the states”.

The President detailed, regarding the five cases of transmission by contact with international travelers, that four of them are physicians: “I do not accept that kind of weakness in the discipline of applying the protocols”.

So he called on the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez and the Minister of People’s Power for Health, Carlos Alvarado, to reinforce the protection measures for doctors and nurses: “We must personally watch over their health,” said the President.

Maduro reported that 67 new imported cases were detected on the border with Colombia and Brazil. Of the new cases 65 are coming from Colombia (35 in Apure and 31 in Táchira states) and one from Brazil.

He stressed the importance of the epidemiological fence at all borders, as well as guaranteeing compliance with the two weeks of mandatory quarantine of people entering the country, in the care centers located on the Venezuelan borders.
