Venezuela thanked WHO for allowing to show its experience in fighting Covid-19

Delcy Rodríguez, Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, thanked the World Health Organization (WHO) for allowing Venezuela to show its experience in the effective fight against Covid-19:

“We thank Dr. Tedros and the WHO for the opportunity they gave our Health Minister, Carlos Alvarado, to expose Venezuela’s outstanding experience in the fight against Covid19, despite the inhumane criminal blockade by the US government. Venezuela shall overcome”, wrote the vice president on Friday on the Twitter social network.

The Minister for Health, Carlos Alvarado, explained this Thursday that the preventive measures taken in time by the National Government to prevent a massive outbreak of the Covid-19 coronavirus have allowed the recovery of 45% of cases in the country, thanks to a health system strengthened in the face of the pandemic.

During a virtual meeting of the health authority with WHO representatives, Alvarado reported on the actions that are carried out from Venezuela for the containment of Covid-19.

From that space, he explained that of the 379 infection cases that have been registered in the nation from March 13 to Wednesday, only 193 remain active, representing 45% of the total number of recovered patient cases.

Of this number, he specified that 10 people have died, indicating that the virus has a fatality rate of 2.72%.

In addition, he explained to the WHO that out of the 193 active patients, 60% are asymptomatic; 38% have mild to acute respiratory infections; 1.5% moderate and 0.5% severe.
