“The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects the formation of an alleged Mission to Determine Facts for Venezuela within the Human Rights Council, as a result of the shameful political use of the mechanisms of this Council by a small group of governments with serious human rights violations, in its obsessive eagerness to attack the legitimate institutions of the Venezuelan State and to hide the serious social crises they face and that have moved world public opinion.
In this regard, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is working in coordination with the Office of the High Commissioner within the framework of the Letter of Understanding signed in September 2019, in accordance with the provisions of Resolution A / HRC / 42 / 4, adopted by the Human Rights Council at its 42nd session. The purpose of this joint work is to constructively address the human rights challenges, further strengthening the social protection system of the Venezuelan State.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has given ample and repeated signs of its willingness and commitment to cooperate with the various UN human rights mechanisms, always on the basis of strict adherence to the principles of objectivity, non-selectivity, impartiality, non-interference in internal affairs and constructive dialogue.
As an elected member of the Human Rights Council for the 2020-2022 term, Venezuela reiterates its strict commitment to the promotion and protection of Human Rights and ratifies that it will work hard to depoliticize its instrumentation for selective purposes with the biasing intention of violating independence, sovereignty and self-determination of the Venezuelan people and all the peoples of the world”.
