Truth Commission grants freedom to 24 citizens as part of the National Dialogue Board


The Commission for Truth, Justice, Peace and Public Tranquility announced on Thursday the release of 24 citizens who were involved in the violence that occurred during 2014 and 2017.
Speaking to the press from the spaces of the Venezuelan Chancellory in Caracas, the president of the commission, Attorney General Tarek William Saab, said that the aforementioned measure is part of the agreements reached by the Integrated National Dialogue Board for Peace. by representatives of the National Government and the opposition:
“In accordance with the agreement number three achieved by the National Dialogue Board, the commission has had as a result, after evaluating a series of names and plots that happened, to deliver to the Justice System the evaluation of 24 releases of Venezuelan citizens that effectively on the day of today will achieve their freedom, this is an extremely important effort that sends a very clear message to the country and the international community”, said the senior official.
Saab also reported that between 2017 and 2019, have been released 222 people who were accused of being linked to actions related to the aforementioned acts of violence:
“Today we take a step to achieve peaceful coexistence, democratic debate, to put violence away as a mechanism of combat to settle the differences that caused serious damage to Venezuelan families, to the country”, he said.
