The US intends to apply new sanctions aimed at weakening the CLAP


The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, denounced on Thursday the new pretensions of the Government of the United States to apply sanctions aimed at weakening the Local Committees for Supply and Production (CLAP), a program that has been in charge of guaranteeing food. to the Venezuelan people:
“Imperialism wants to destroy the CLAP of your family, of the community, it was announced by the head of the empire: “I’m going for the CLAP”, and we say from here, do whatever you want, Venezuela will continue with the system of the Local Committees for supply and production, and the CLAP grow and prosper, they continue by the hands of the people”, he said from the Military Circle of Caracas.
The national president said that the Venezuelan people work every day to bring forward the national production to achieve self-sufficiency.
“I call on the Venezuelan people to fight for the CLAP against US imperialism. Since CLAP does not exist anywhere else in the world, only in Venezuela the market is directly brought from the producer to the home”, he emphasized.
The Reuters news agency reported that sanctions would be imposed against officials, military personnel and national and international companies that have links with the CLAP.
Last Sunday May 19, the national head of the CLAP, Freddy Bernal, denounced that some 10 maritime transport companies were sanctioned making it impossible for food to arrive for the people; As a consequence, these sanctions cause delays in the arrival of items to the country, that is, what used to arrive in a month, now takes three months.
