Arreaza: It is not the first time the US financially supports a coup d'etat in Venezuela

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza, affirmed on Monday that the failed coup d’état that the opposition leaders Leopoldo López and Juan Guaidó intended to perpetrate, with the support of the United States government and the governments belonging to the Lima Group, was aimed to generate violence in the country in order to justify a foreign military intervention.
During an interview given to RT, Arreaza indicated that “they were looking for the pain, the death of the Venezuelans, the suffering, the provoking, through violent and illegal actions, so there would be a containment of public order on the part of the Venezuelan State and there hold the government accountable. of any regrettable situation and over that pain and death”.
He pointed out that a military intervention has been the patron of the right wing over the last few years, sponsored by the United States. “It is not the first time that the Venezuelan opposition executes a coup d’etat supported by the government of that North American nation”, he said.
“The key is the US empire and the bourgeoisie trying to take control of resources, of Venezuela’s biodiversity, geopolitical control”, he said.
For this reason, he stressed, that the opposition began to deepen, along with the US Government, the maneuvers to make the Venezuelan economy collapse with illegal sanctions and a unilateral criminal blockade that has its maximum expression in the financial system, which hinders imports of inputs for production, food procurement, medicines, payment for services, technological maintenance, among others.
Chancellor Arreaza expressed his hope that the United States will return to the path of diplomacy and respect for international law, and reiterated the willingness of the Venezuelan government to resume a dialogue with the opposition sectors in order to resolve the situation in the country, as a product of the unconventional war promoted by the North American country.
