Dialogue with Guyana is an achievement of the Venezuelan people on December 03

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, assured that direct dialogue with the Cooperative Republic of Guyana is an achievement of all the Venezuelan people, expressed in the Consultative Referendum held on December 03, in which the people voted overwhelmingly, five times “Yes” to the questions, especially that “we only acknowledge the Geneva Agreement to advance in the peaceful resolution of the controversy over Guyana Essequiba.”

During the “Networks, Streets, Media and Walls” segment of the “Con Maduro+” program, on its edition number 29, the head of state considered that the face-to-face dialogue with Guyana, “it is a great achievement for Latin America and the Caribbean, for this meeting to have been scheduled with President Mohamed Irfaan Ali.”

Likewise, he recalled that he spoke with the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, whom he asked “to play a positive role to resume the dialogue, and he committed to me that he would do so,” said President Maduro, who assured that “Guterres, with his recent statements, broke the law of mutual consent of the Geneva Agreement.”

“We have marked differences, but I explained Venezuela’s position very well, that the only valid instrument to resolve the controversy is through the Geneva Agreement and our historical position of non-recognition of the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice,” he assured.
