Venezuela presented social achievements of indigenous communities at the UN


The Minister for Indigenous Peoples, Aloha Núñez, presented on April 25 at the eighteenth session of the Permanent Forum for Indigenous Issues of the United Nations, the achievements of Venezuela in health and bilingual intercultural education.
Through the Twitter social network, the minister said that during the work journey in the US city of New York, she denounced the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States against the country, which affect the policies of the Executive in favor of the originary communities:
“In this forum we highlight all our efforts in defense of the rights of the more than 40 indigenous peoples, many of whom have been hampered by the repeated threats to our sovereignty by the empire”, said Núñez on the digital platform.
Finally, the minister highlighted the work of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, who despite the constant attacks, guarantees the participation and development of the indigenous peoples who live in the Bolivarian nation.
The Permanent Forum of the United Nations for Indigenous Issues is the advisory body of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), established on July 28, 2000, with the mandate to examine indigenous issues related to economic and social development, culture, environment, education, health and human rights.
