Venezuela rejects Trump’s warmongering and interventionist statements

Venezuela expressed its resounding rejection of the warmongering and interventionist statements made against the nation by US President Donald Trump on Tuesday, during his speech at the 73rd General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), in New York.

Below, the full text of the communiqué:

“The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its strongest rejection of the warmongering and interventionist statements issued by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, aimed at promoting a military uprising in the country, which evidence the policy of a regime change that his government promotes with the participation of some Latin American governments.

These statements do not represent an isolated element, since they emerge in a context of successive threats of military intervention in Venezuela and under the increase of military presence by the US in the region, tending to create a regional conflict of unsuspected proportions.

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, manifests its commitment to regional peace and stability, and before these infamous expressions, pays a tribute to the dignity and honor of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, a legatee institution of the libertarian spirit of Simón Bolívar, and a guarantor of the stability, defense and peace of the nation, thus ratifying its will to defend the independence and the sovereignty of the Venezuelan people”.
