«The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its resounding rejection of the unfounded accusations made in the statement published on March 27, 2019 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Colombia, where it denounces an alleged terrorist attack against military units of That country.
Faced with the misrepresentation of the facts by the Government of Colombia, it is necessary to inform that, while Venezuelan military personnel carried out inspection work on a retaining wall in the La Gallina sector, El Amparo parish of the Páez municipality in Apure state, they were object of an unjustified aggression by part of a unit of the Colombian Navy, whose physical and graphic evidences were collected by a multidisciplinary research commission in charge of the 92nd Caribbean Brigade attached to the Integral Defense Zone 31 of Apure.
The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela strongly denounces and rejects this unacceptable provocation on the part of the Colombian authorities, which adds to the systematic acts of aggression against the national institutions, under the humiliating tutelage of Washington.
The Bolivarian Government has no doubts in qualifying the tendentious statements of the government of Iván Duque, as an irresponsible new attempt to create a false positive against Venezuela, with the aim of justifying possible aggressions against our country, of paramilitary personnel trained in Colombian territory for that means.
The Bolivarian Government of Venezuela confirms that the Bolivarian National Armed Forces and the security forces of the Republic, act within the national territory and maintain an effective presence in the Venezuelan border areas, in order to combat the disastrous consequences of violence and narco-paramilitarism coming from Colombia, scourges whose consequences Venezuela has suffered for decades, and which have become a real threat to internal order, stability and national peace.
The Bolivarian Government ratifies to the Colombian people their unwavering commitment to Peace, and demands that the government of Colombia cease its provocations on the common border and dedicate itself to addressing the very serious humanitarian and security crisis suffered by its people in those regions.»
