Venezuela delivered protest note to representatives of countries of the Lima Group

The Chancellor of the Republic, Jorge Arreaza, on Wednesday delivered a Protest Note to the representatives of the 12 member countries of the self-styled Lima Group, in rejection of the interventionist statement issued on January 4 against the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.
In different meetings, held at the Casa Amarilla (“Yellow House”, seat of the Chancellory), in Caracas, the Chancellor delivered a Protest Note to the Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Peru, Rosa Álvarez, to the Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Argentina, Eduardo Porret, and later to the Chargé d’Affaires of Canada, Lori Corrivean.
The Protest Note was also extended to the Minister Counselor of the Republic of Colombia, Carlos Gamboa, to the Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Guatemala, Gilda Morales, and to the Chargé d’Affaires of the Republic of Paraguay, Celso Riquelme.
The diplomatic action takes place in response to the statement issued by the Lima Group on January 4 after the meeting of foreign ministers held in Lima. The document urges President Maduro not to assume the new mandate, in addition to condemning the National Government for allegedly violating the sovereignty of Guyana.
