President Maduro: Bolívar inspires us and his strength accompanies us in every battle

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, paid tribute to the Liberator Simón Bolívar on the 188th anniversary of his death, on December 17, 1830 in Santa Marta, Colombia.

“We commemorated 188 years of the sowing of Father Liberator Simón Bolívar, the Giant of the Americas, who knew how to face and overcome the difficulties to consolidate our Independence. His example inspires us and his strength accompanies us in every battle”, said the national leader through the Twitter social network.

In the message, the President attached a video and a color note in tribute to the legacy of the father of the Homeland, Simón Bolívar.

In the National Pantheon in Caracas, where the remains of Simón Bolívar lie, took place the ceremonial act of the raising of the Flag in honor of the Liberator, this Monday, at 6:00 in the morning, headed by the minister for Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, along with members of the Executive Cabinet and the Military High Command.

Padrino López was the keynote speaker of the occasion and in his words ratified Venezuela’s commitment to the legacy of the Liberator of independence, freedom, peace and Latin American integration.

The Liberator died on December 17, 1830 in Santa Marta, Colombia. Bolívar managed to liberate in the Latin American independence struggles he led Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Panama. He was conferred the title of Libertador in 1813 by then governor of Caracas, Cristóbal Mendoza. He founded the political and legal bases of the institutions that would have the purpose of defending the sovereignty of the liberated nations for the development of the new American citizens.
