Minister Quevedo arrived in Equatorial Guinea to participate in the extraordinary meeting prior to the 5th GECF summit


The Minister of People’s Power for Petroleum and president of Petróleos de Venezuela SA, (PDVSA), Manuel Quevedo, arrived in Malabo, capital of Equatorial Guinea, to participate in the Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting, prior to the 5th Summit of Heads of States and Governments, members of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
Upon arrival in the African country, he was welcomed by the Secretary of State of Mines and Hydrocarbons Santiago Mba Eneme Nsuga, the ambassador of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Carmelo Micha Nguema Misi and the ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela before the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, Nelson Ortega.
Likewise, Minister Manuel Quevedo held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons of Equatorial Guinea, Gabriel Mbaga Obiang Lima, in order to strengthen brotherhood ties.
During this preparatory meeting, the draft of the final document will be discussed and presented, which will allow the signing of the Malabo Declaration, where the agreements of the Summit will be expressed in which will participate the nations that group 64% of the proven gas reserves worldwide.
The Forum is made up of 12 countries: Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela, while Iraq, Kazakhstan, Angola, Norway, Oman, Peru and Azerbaijan have observer status.
It is important to remember that Venezuela chaired the 21st Ministerial Meeting of the GECF, held in Moscow, Russia last October in which Minister Quevedo, stressed the importance of strengthening multilateral policies and actions for the promotion of gas as a clean energy source worldwide.
During this meeting that will be held in the African nation, Venezuela will continue to promote the strengthening of strategic relations in order to deepen cooperation, mutual respect and complementarity between peoples.
