The Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, promoted by the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez, marked a milestone in the constitutions of the world to guarantee and promote Human Rights, said the Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez.
From the Teresa Carreño Theater, in the framework of the 70th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations (UN), she stressed that thanks to the ideals of the country’s liberators, Chávez took up those ideas and these were reflected in the Constitution in defense of the Human Rights:
«This declaration (of the UN) also contains what was the thought of our predecessors and liberators, and there is taken up again with great force, the Human Rights model of the Bolivarian Revolution with the arrival of Commander Hugo Chávez as president of the Republic», she said.
In her speech, the vice president highlighted the double standards of some nations that have promoted a campaign to say that there is a humanitarian crisis in Venezuela, to justify an intervention, and do not condemn human rights violations in countries such as the United States, among others.
In that sense, she condemned that because of the financial and commercial blockade imposed by US imperialism, Venezuela is denied the right to its free development.
Human Rights in the world:
Rodriguez rejected that 1% of the world population possesses 82% of the wealth generated in 2017, with 50% of the population living in poverty, which deprives these people of the right to equality and security of their own being.
She criticized that in the last five centuries lethal violence has increased in the world and has caused true humanitarian crises that nobody has assumed.
She added that the United Nations system should focus on the cause of Palestine in the struggle for the Human Rights of its population, while asking to reflect on the coming to power of people with neo-fascist ideals.
She also called on the free peoples of the world to add wills to build a world and culture of respect for Human Rights and those of the environment.
