This Monday, the Ana María Campos Monumental Park, located in the Grano de Oro sector of the Maracaibo municipality, in Zulia state, was officially inaugurated by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
In the 38th edition of the “Con Maduro+” program, the head of state welcomed the Zulians to this new recreational and cultural space of great importance for the Zulian region:
“We delivered the first ten hectares of the Ana María Campos Park. We go for more. I gave you the most beautiful park that could be given to Zulia. We are going for more for Zulia and Venezuela,” said President Maduro, when officially opening the doors of the park.
On his tour of the Monumental Park, the National President was accompanied by the Zulian youth, the First Combatant woman of the Republic, Cilia Flores de Maduro; the Supreme Chief of Zulia state, Diosdado Cabello; the president of Mission Venezuela Bella, Jacqueline Faria; among other regional authorities participating in the work.
The president of the Mission Venezuela Bella, Jacqueline Faria, explained in the section “With Maduro Closer”, that this park offers the people of Zulia 10 hectares for recreation, in its first stage with five water fountains, 4.5 hectares of green areas, 17 fields that allow all sports to be practiced.”
“We have not yet completed two months and we have welcomed almost 200,000 people. A second stage is coming where 18 hectares are already being built,” reported Faría.
Likewise, she said that an acoustic shell auditorium will be built with the capacity to hold 2,000 people, a theater for boys and girls, and a frisbee court.
Recovery of spaces:
In the broadcast of the program, President Maduro ordered the restoration of spaces such as the School of the Niños Cantores del Zulia (Zulia Singing Childrens), as well as places attached to the Zulia Singing Childrens Institute such as the theater, the Sports Training Center and the Indoor Gym.
“The sanctions will not stop us, we will recover these important spaces for Zulia,” he stressed.
A park for culture and tradition:
To date, the Ana María Campos Monumental Park has made it possible to meet the needs of recreational spaces and green areas for the enjoyment of the local population and has given way to the consolidation of the University and Sports Axis that integrates it.
Likewise, it has a design, image and operation that reflects the culture and tradition that the people of Maracaibo have built in their history; This is how it has become a space to pay tribute to the heroine Ana María Campos and continue deepening the libertarian legacy and heroism of the heroes of the Homeland.
In its second stage, it includes an amphitheater, courts for Bolas Criollas(*), terraces for playing spinning tops and a Frisbee court, environments that seek the enjoyment of the community of Zulia in general.
To complete this phase, earthworks have begun to expand the park, which will have cultural and recreational aspects as its fundamental architectural axes.
January 28, 2024, was the date on which the emblematic park opened its doors. Previously, on July 24, 2023, it was instructed to open this space for boys, girls, young people and infants with some motor disability.
In context:
The first stage of the Monumental Park has recreational spaces and sports spaces for the whole family and all disciplines.
In these first 10 hectares of land, 12 courts were built for different disciplines such as basketball, indoor soccer, volleyball and paddle tennis, in addition to the largest skateboard park in Latin America, made of concrete, which has ramps distributed for children, apprentices, practitioners and professionals; where skateboarding and BMX competitions are held at the national and international level.
The Ana María Campos Monumental Park also has 4 interactive fountains, paths built with cobblestones, cycle paths, a xeric garden, recreational and leisure areas. In addition, it has two (2) lagoons, a food fair, a bio-healthy park and a recreation area. CrossFit, distributed in this majestic space that has all the services for the attention of its visitors.
(*): Bolas criollas is a traditional team sport from Venezuela, very popular in the Llanos and most rural regions. It is one of the most representative icons of Llanero culture. Its origins can be traced back to traditional European boules sports, such as bocce and pétanque, and has a similar objective, which is to throw a set of balls as close as possible to the small target ball.
