President Maduro arrived in Russia to strengthen ties of cooperation with Putin

The Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, arrived in Moscow on Tuesday to hold an important work meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in order to strengthen the bilateral relations between Russia and Venezuela.

During the meeting, the leaders will discuss strategic issues for the development of nations, such as trade and investment relations.

Before departing on Monday night to Russia, the Head of State, Nicolas Maduro, stressed that he was traveling “to hold a necessary work meeting with President Vladimir Putin. We are going to review the plan of cooperation and joint development Russia – Venezuela (…) To close 2018 with a flourish in terms of the strategic relations that Venezuela is building in the world”.

From the Simón Bolívar International Airport, in Maiquetía, Vargas state, he said the goal is “to continue looking for investments, economic improvement and strengthen ties in all respects with the emerging powers and peoples of the world”.

To sStrengthen relations and strategic collaboration between Russia and Venezuela is part of the objectives of the meeting that will hold the Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, and his counterpart Vladimir Putin, in Moscow.

The Russian presidential adviser for international affairs, Yuri Ushakov, said that both leaders “will of course discuss specific issues of the development of trade and investment relations, as well as current international issues”, as quoted by Sputnik on Tuesday.

He emphasized that the next negotiations of the two leaders are aimed at strengthening and developing relations and strategic collaboration between Russia and Venezuela.

“Cooperation with Venezuela is one of the priorities of our policy in Latin America,” he said.
He stressed that among the issues that will also include technical and military collaboration, among other areas.

The leaders of Russian ministries and agencies will be involved in the negotiations between the two governments, such as the head of the Federal Service of Military Technical Cooperation, Dmitry Shugáev, the Minister of Energy, Alexandr Nóvak, the president of the oil company Rosneft, Igor Sechin, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Denis Mánturov, the deputy prime minister Yuri Borisov and the head of the Ministry of Economic Development, Maxim Oreshkin.
