19 years ago the ANC approved the name of Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, recalled this Monday that 19 years ago, the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), approved that the country will be called a “Bolivarian Republic.” This was indicated from his account on the Twitter social network.

As it will be recalled, on November 12, 1999, the National Constituent Assembly approved the name of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. At that time, the president of said assembly, Luis Miquelena, directed the ordinary session.

On that day, constituent Eliézer Otaiza proposed: “Venezuela declares itself as a Bolivarian Republic, irrevocably free and independent, and bases its moral patrimony, as well as the values of freedom, equality, justice and international peace in the doctrine of Simón Bolívar the Liberator”.

“19 years ago, the #ANC, approved to rechristen the country: “Venezuela is declared as a Bolivarian Republic, irrevocably free and independent”, Those were the words of our brother and martyred comrade, Eliézer Otaiza. Today we continue the path of Bolivarian doctrine”.
