President Maduro pays tribute to Central American hero Francisco Morazán

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, paid tribute this Wednesday to the memory of the Central American hero, Francisco Morazán, on the occasion of the 226th anniversary of his birth:

“After 226 years of the birth of the Honduran hero of the Central American emancipation, General Francisco Morazán, we pay tribute to his memory by remembering his proclamation: “The greatness of a Nation is not measured by the extent of its territory, but by the dignity and honor of its children”, wrote the Head of State on the Twitter social network.

General Francisco Morazán, an independence leader and promoter of the unification of the Central American Federation (made up of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica) was born on October 3, 1792 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

After the independence, he became President of the Central American Federal Republic in two terms: 1830-1834 and 1835 -1839.

He stood out as a visionary man. He fostered liberal ideas of thought, education and religion.

Traitorous bullets seized the life of Morazán, to whom the Cuban hero José Martí described as “a powerful genius, a strategist, a speaker, a true statesman, perhaps the only one that Central America has produced”
