A total of 34 people have appeared involved, until now, in the attempt to assassinate the head of State, Nicolás Maduro, a fact that occurred last Saturday, August 4, on the Bolivar Avenue in Caracas:
«The number of people involved (arrested and requested) in this fact increased to 34, without ruling out that this number may increase. So far there are 14 detainees, who were presented in court and charged. Two of them received precautionary measures», said the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab.
The Attorney General of the Republic recalled that several of those involved are in foreign territories such as Colombia and the United States. For this reason, the Public Ministry has handed over the collections to the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), for the capture of said persons.
He asserted that the investigations have been carried out in a transparent, impeccable manner and in full judicial guarantee, respecting due process.
The Prosecutor informed that the hearing of the implicated persons arrested so far in the frustrated assassination was held: Argenis Valero, Juan Carlos Monasterios Venegas, José Rivas Díaz, Yolmer Escalona, Alberto Bracho, José Estrada, Emilendris Benítez, former-deputy Juan Requesens, as well as Colonel Pedro Zambrano, the General of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB), Alejandro Pérez; Brayan Oropeza, Luis Guerra, Yanin Pernía and José Blanco.
The last two were granted an injunction to substitute the privative measure for not having a direct involvement in the event.
By rejecting and condemn the filtering of images of the case of Juan Requesens, prosecutor Tarek William Saab reported that an investigation was initiated and said that it is not ruled out that those responsible are involved in the assassination attempt: «With this fact they intended to divert attention», he added.
