Escarrá: Frustrated magnicide seeks to unleash fratricidal confrontation

Hermann Escarra, constituent, pointed out that the frustrated assassination against the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, carried out on August 4, reveals «a great desperation and antidemocratic and anti-republican behavior», on the part of the factors of the national and international ultra right wing who organized the conspiratorial plan.

«It seems to be forgotten that President Maduro was elected in a popular election, where he has won widely. This is a presidential system, where the national majority is the one that chooses the President of the Republic», he said, so that these opposition sectors disrespect the people’s will.

He explained that, historically, the assassination «is always aimed at benefactors, people or political leaders of very good will and that its object is to cause immense pain in the population to produce a fratricidal confrontation between two antagonistic parties».

In the «Al Aire» (On Air) program, broadcast on Monday by Venezolana de Televisión, Escarrá said that the Bolivarian Government should strengthen international alliances with countries such as Russia and China, and organizations such as the Non-Aligned Countries Movement (NAM) where Venezuela holds the pro-tempore presidency, in order to come out against the media campaign of the great communicational corporations:

«We are facing a situation, where one of its components is misinformation, it is the distortion of information by part of the big international (news) agencies», he said.

Escarrá urged the opposition sectors to seek an understanding with the Executive to overcome the crisis that the country is going through:

«We have to make a great effort so that we understand that in this way we will not solve the problems of Venezuela: assassinating, asking for military interventions and discrediting the country in the international economic order. That is not the way, the way is to go to the people, for the people, as sovereign, to say what must be decided for the good of the nation; and the latest thing (the people) has done is to give an immense voting and support to President Maduro in the elections of May 20», he stressed.
