The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced that the National Economy Council declares in permanent session.
The Head of State reported that the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, is in charge of the secretariat’s leadership, and detailed that the team is also made up of Anabel Pereira, Minister of Economy and Finance, and Gabriela Jiménez, Minister of the People’s Power for Science and Technology.
He also indicated that Juan Carlos Loyo, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture; Alex Saab, Minister of People’s Power for Industries and National Production; and the head of planning, Ricardo Menéndez, also belong to this team.
President Maduro indicated that the objective is to reorganize and project the country’s economic agenda and emphasized the importance of building an autonomous economic model away from external influences:
«We are precisely building our own path with our own thinking, with our experience, with our own achievements and with our own vision,» he declared, highlighting that the new strategy is based on the definition of the thirteen productive engines that will drive Venezuela’s development.
The President emphasized that this approach is based on the experience accumulated since the implementation of the Bolivarian Economic Agenda in 2016, which allowed the country to face the challenges imposed by international sanctions and the economic war:
«We have very clearly redefined Venezuela’s productive engines,» he stressed, mentioning that the achievements made in recent years are signs that the country is moving in the right direction.
Likewise, the head of State rejected any dependence on international organizations, after emphasizing: «Our economic plans do not come from the International Monetary Fund.»
In this sense, he reaffirmed that Venezuela is building its own model of economic and social independence, without submitting to the guidelines of the World Bank or other global financial institutions.
