President Maduro urges journalists to defend the truth of Venezuela

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, on Wednesday urged all journalists in the country to defend the truth of Venezuela, against campaigns of lies promoted by the right wing.

During the presentation of the National Journalism Award, which took place at the National Pantheon in Caracas, the Head of State called on social communicators: “To meet the reality of our beloved Venezuela, to meet the pains and the hope, and to always smile amidst the hard complex struggle that we carry out”, he said.

“It is noteworthy the tremendous strength that you (journalists) have to go meet the truth every day, as it said our Correo del Orinoco in its first editorial: We are a free country of free men, we are not willing to deceive nobody, because that is the ethics of Bolivarian journalism”, he said on a broadcast by VTV.

He indicated that the National Government has worked to strengthen freedom of expression in Venezuela: “Venezuela has a society of broad freedoms”, he said.

“I want to congratulate you social communicators, our country has great challenges, with the same undeniable faith with which was founded the Correo del Orinoco, let’s go with its spiritual strength, nothing and nobody will be able to defeat us, the Homeland will prevail, the people will overcome and we will have better times”, he said.
