The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, delivered this Monday the Liberator men and womfn of Venezuela Award in his first class, post mortem, to the revolutionary leader Fabricio Ojeda, during the homage that takes place in the National Pantheon in Caracas.
During the ceremony, the Head of State also awarded the Victorious Saber of Carabobo belonging to the general in chief, Rafael Urdaneta, to the daughter of this socialist leader, Thais Ojeda, in honor of Fabricio’s outstanding career in his struggle for the Revolution in Venezuela.
The remains of socialist leader Fabricio Ojeda arrived on Monday at the National Pantheon, amid a massive mobilization that the Venezuelan people carried out in the streets of Caracas.
The mobilization started from the General South Cemetery, passed through the Roca Tarpeya zone, the Armed Forces Avenue, La Hoyada market, Universidad Avenue; then it followed through the Baralt Avenue and the outskirts of the headquarters of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), until arriving at the Pantheon, in downtown Caracas, where they were welcomed by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
On June 20, 1966, Fabricio Ojeda was captured in La Guaira, now Vargas State, by the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces (SIFA). In strange circumstances, within two days of his apprehension, he appeared murdered in his cell, which was located only 200 meters from the Presidential office, with signs of torture.
