CNE ratifies its sovereign and constitutional nature

The Chairwoman of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Tibisay Lucena, referred on Thursday to the international campaign that is taking place in several nations of the world to reject the electoral process and not acknowledge the results of the vote of the Venezuelan people.

She also referred to the unilateral determination of Canada to violate the political rights of Venezuelans in that land after announcing that they will not allow the process to be developed in that nation.

“The CNE is not an institution under tutelage, it is a public power established in the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, so we do not receive orders from any country and we will ensure that suffrage can be exercised in the territory and abroad”, she sentenced.

From the seat of the electoral body, in Caracas, she indicated that the international call is made under a political argument: “In Venezuela the vote is a right, not a duty, no foreign country can come to prevent or subordinate the vote and the sovereign expression of Venezuelans”.

She pointed out that despite any sanctions on CNE officials the body will continue to work: “From the moment the election was called, began the attack by several Governments that have tried to suspend it, or have tried that the entire world does not acknowledge it under false arguments”, she said.

She said that currently the nation is not under a scenario of war: “The country is at peace, we do not have physical violence, but we are under an international violence that claims for these elections not to develop”, she said.
