President Maduro will not attend Summit of the Americas

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, informed that he will not attend the Summit of the Americas to be held on April 13 and 14 in Peru.

“I decided last night that I’m not going to the Summit of the Americas in Lima, and I’m going to stay with the people of Venezuela on (April) 13th and 14th in which we commemorate the defeat of the 2002 coup d’état. Venezuela, that is my decision”, he reported.

Maduro said that these summits are “a waste of time” because in these “are not discussed issues for the life of the peoples and no decisions are made” in favor of the region, while condemning the withdrawal of minimum security for a President. attending the aforementioned summit.

The Head of State denounced the policies of US imperialism against Latin America to prevent Venezuela’s participation in the event. “Rex Tillerson’s only objective a month ago was for right-wing governments to declare that Maduro was not going to the Summit of the Americas, which is illegal, because Venezuela has the right to be at that summit and at all the summits there may be in this earth and this world”, he said.
