The Chancellor of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza, said that there is no impediment of any kind for Venezuela to participate in the 8th Summit of the Americas.
Through his account on the Twitter social network, the Head of Foreign Relations reported that he sent a letter to his counterpart in Peru, which shows that Venezuela, represented in the figure of its President, has the full right to participate in the regional meeting.
In the message he asserts that the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro: “Will attend the appointment on time”. Days before, in a press conference with international media, the Head of State said he will attend the summit to bring the truth of Venezuela.

In the letter sent the Venezuelan Foreign Minister tells his Peruvian counterpart to ignore the regulation that rules the summit.
“Madam Minister, any reader of the regulations in force, must conclude that it is not attributed in any way to the Republic of Peru, or any other State, the power to decide on the participation of a Member and Founder State in meetings of the Summit of the Americas, and therefore your letter, as well as recent statements by senior representatives of the Peruvian State, reveal a notable lack of knowledge about the corresponding regulations and their effects”, reads the text.
In the document, the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs also emphasizes that the legal and political foundations underpinning the Summits of the Americas, seek consensus, harmony, equality and respect among the member states, moving away from the arbitrariness, disorder, intolerance and unilateralism in the region.
“The claim of the Government of the Republic of Peru to withdraw the invitation to the Head of State of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (…) is not only unfounded from the legal point of view, but is also erratic and unilateral”, adds the letter.
Consequently, and among other reasons provided with legal support, the diplomat confirmed the timely assistance of President Nicolás Maduro on April 13 and 14 to the city of Lima, as representative of the people of Venezuela before the 8th Summit of the Americas.
