The Sectoral vice-president of Communication, Tourism and Culture, Jorge Rodríguez, described as an achievement of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, to have sat at the dialogue table with the Venezuelan opposition, and that they publicly acknowledged it.
«We did it! After 372 calls for dialogue made by President Nicolás Maduro. After a commission from the Pope, from Rome, was invited. After friends of Venezuela were invited as is the case of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, Martín Torrijos, Leonel Fernández and Ernesto Samper. After the Venezuelan right wing sat on the table and they abandoned it. After many half-truths, many lies, many concealments and many omissions, Maduro succeeded».
Rodríguez, during the broadcast of the space «90 Millas de Maduro» (90 miles of Maduro), broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, offered a summary of the day of dialogue held last Friday, December 1 and 2 in the Dominican Republic, between delegations of the National Government and the Board of Democratic Unity (MUD).
In the negotiating agenda, the parties involved in the dialogue debate the issue of truth commission, economic guarantees, political and electoral guarantees, recognition of the National Constituent Assembly, institutional balance between public powers and the economic and social situation.
On this last point, the holder of the Communication and Information portfolio reiterated «Venezuela (…) will not sign any agreement with the Venezuelan opposition until the gross sanctions that the Venezuelan right-wing leadership requested from the Treasury Department of Donald Trump and in front of the Spanish and Canadian authorities».
