The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, ordered the activation of an air bridge for the return of Venezuelans who were registered in the Vuelta a la Patria (Back to the Homeland) Plan.
«I tell to those Venezuelans in Quito, in Lima and beyond: You can count on me, I have ordered to activate the Vuelta a la Patria plan, an air bridge to bring back all these Venezuelans who have registered and want to return to their beloved Homeland, to the land of liberators», he stressed from Miraflores Palace.
«A wave of return to the Homeland has been unleashed by our compatriots who are being mistreated and persecuted abroad», he said.
He denounced that in Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and other countries has unleashed a campaign of hatred, persecution and xenophobic contempt against the citizens of Venezuela:
«This campaign is headed by statements by US spokespersons against the people of Venezuela, accusing us of emigrating to other countries of the world and creating a scandal to justify a policy of intervention in the country», he said.
