Rodríguez: We are very close to a definitive agreement for coexistence and peace

The Head of the Venezuelan delegation for dialogue, Jorge Rodriguez, said on Thursday that a definitive agreement between the Bolivarian Government and the Venezuelan opposition is coming, to establish peace and coexistence in the country.

“We are very close to a definitive agreement for coexistence and peace. We have come a long way”, said Rodriguez at the end of a new meeting with the Venezuelan opposition in the Dominican Republic, as part of the preparations for the dialogue that has been taking place in that country since last September.

In a press conference Rodríguez said that the National Government: “has great hope that the dialogue will crystallize into concrete agreements that will result in the well-being of the Venezuelan people,” and that they will not pay tribute to fomenting a climate of violence and destabilization such as the opposition generated in the country, in the months of April to July of this year.

The cessation of arbitrary sanctions and the attack on the Venezuelan currency by foreign powers, were the main issues on the table at the meeting on Thursday that went, mainly, “fine-tuning the agenda and rules of discussion” .

“It is criminal for a German bank, with us having the money to pay for food and medicines, refuses to pay 39 food and medicine suppliers for the simple reason that it is a form of violence against Venezuela. It is criminal that several of these correspondents that Venezuela has to pay to the companies to which we are acquiring supplies for food, raw materials and medicines refuse to fulfill their correspondent functions. We carry this point very strongly”, explained Rodriguez.

After six hours of meeting “we all achieved a paragraph where respect for our national sovereignty is requested and, also, the international community is asked to encourage this dialogue effort instead of aggressive actions against Venezuela”, he said.

“It is the Bolivarian Government that reiterates its call to the international community to accompany the shared effort that aims at peace and democracy in Venezuela in respect to its sovereignty,” he added.
